Blueant Q1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset
Reviewed by Derek Kessler
The Blueant Q1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset takes the voice-control formula from its older brother, the Blueant V1, and crams it into a slimmer and much more attractive design. The end result is a stylish headset with some handy controls quite literally available at the sound of your voice.

With decent battery life, an attractive design, and good voice control options, the Blueant Q1 Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset is a great entry into the top tier of headsets. Couple that with good outgoing and incoming sound quality and you’ve got a best-in-class contender that will put the likes of Plantronics and Jawbone on notice.

Pros:  voice control, ad2p support
Cons:  low ear piece volume

I purchased this based on positive internet reviews, particularly from phonearena which does a comparison of this headset with two other premium headsets. All were tested on a palm pre and the blueant came out favored.

I dont have a lot of experience with bluetooth devices so I cant make any comparisons. So far I enjoy the headset, my complaints are that it seems to have occasional static. Seems as though the headset is a little finicky with where you place the phone. Also sometimes you have to speak loudly for it to register the voice prompts.

Finally, the earpiece volume is on the lower side IMO

Overall tho, despite the negatives, Im satisfied with the headset. It is lightweight and looks sleek. Unlike other headsets, even the premium ones, the Q1 can have speed dials stored within the device itself allowing you to make phone calls without having to access the phone.

And if youre into listening to PalmCasts on your phone, the Q1 supports audio streaming -- another option that is surprisingly lacking in many headsets

Pros:  Multipoint-Connection to two handsets
Cons:  Matched with Pre, poor battery life

The promises from Blueant have not come to fruition. I have my Q1 paired to my Palm Pro. When paired to my Palm Pre the battery dies halfway through the day. Why is BlueAnt so quiet about a fix? Have they forgotten about us who have supported them with our purchases? Lets hear from BlueAnt!
StarStarStarStarStar Palm Pre and Blueant Q1 No Go

Pros:  The best BT earpiece on the market.
Cons:  Blueant Customer service recommends buying a V1 to use with the Pre

So sad when Blueant recommends a lower line (V1) to work with the almost iPhone killer Palm Pre. I returned the Q1 and bought the strongest contender for top BT headset, Plantronics Voyager Pro. Works flawlessly with the work Pre and my 3Gs. Sorry Blueant I am gone for good, cant wait 2 months for a fix.
StarStarStarStarStar Bad Sound
User: Jerry Rasmussen, Aug 10, 2009
I had this little guy for about a month. I love the features and the voice control kicks butt but I have to admit that the volume is very low. I found myself switching to my headset many times because I couldnt hear the the other person clearly. The headset needs more sound or a better speaker. I ended up switching back to my V1 which has great sound quality and returned the Q1.
StarStarStarStarStar Palm Pre and Blueant Q1: Not a Happy Coupling
User: scott weinstein, Aug 7, 2009

Pros:  When charged work beautifully
Cons:  Battery life with pre is dreadful, and it disconnects on and off mysteriously

It appears that the Q1 was not fully vetted with the Palm Pre. The phone drains the headset battery continuously resulting in deplorable standby time (3hrs on average). I have had the combo for two months now and am told that Blueant is working on a "fix," but it is taking way too long. Sprint just blows off the concern stating they dont actually promote the "combo." Just hung up with Pre customer support and the rep claimed it was the 1st hes heard about it. I find that hard to believe since there are blogs all over the net attesting to the same issue....
