For a universal mount this is as good as it gets. Another reviewer mentioned they couldnt place the Pre in this mount with the keyboard open. Ive had no problems doing this, so Im not sure what the problem was.The foam does press the volume button if you close the mount excessively tight, but this isnt necessary. I.e. if the volume button is being pressed you have it closed too tight. I trimmed off a tiny bit of the foam to avoid this issue.
Its great that there is a space to feed the charging cable. I ended up cutting a small notch in the mount so that I dont have to feed the cable through before I plug it in. The side clips are solid plastic so its still very sturdy.

I only wish there was a good way to have the Pre fit , with support on the bottom, while the keyboard was open.

this would be a perfect solution to hands free in the car if the opening was adjustable so when you have your case on it would fit! I love having it mounted in the vent because I can see it with out much effort!
Not good for Pre

Difficult to slide open pre when in place. Holds it awkwardly in open position. Side brackets interfere with use of car charger and press on volume buttons. Does not hold firmly enough to be able to effectively use multi-touch screen.Clearly, not a good choice for Pre users.
