Incipio Leather Hipster Pouch
Reviewed by Derek Kessler
The Incipio Leather Hipster Pouch for Palm Pre is a tank of a leather case. I don’t mean that in just that it will protect your Pre well against daily threats, it’s actually also notably heavy in comparison to some other cases, including the identically designed Incipio Sports Holster. The stitched leather case was designed specifically with the Pre in mind, so you can count on it to provide a good fit without being too tight or too loose.

In spite of its boxy understated design and surprising heft, the Incipio Leather Hipster Pouch will hold and protect your Pre under most every day circumstances. The large flap, strong belt clip, extra thick leather, and quiet understated design, are enough to outweigh the relative girth and mass that the Hipster Pouch brings to the case party.

StarStarStarStarStar Clip Weakness Problem
User: Mike Plaut, Feb 16, 2010

Pros:  Solid case, offers good protection, easy in and out
Cons:  Clip is very tight and poorly connected to the case

I had a problem similar to a previous rater. The stitching holding the clip to the case did not hold and the leather around it actually tore a bit. Since it is otherwise a nice, strong, easily accessible case, I took the case to a leather repair shop and they put a grommet in and glued the leather back over. So far it is holding well, but this should not have been necessary.
StarStarStarStarStar Good case, bad clip
User: Neil Sindicich, Sep 23, 2009

Pros:  Good secure fit, snazzy brown leather
Cons:  Leather was poorly applied to the clip.

The case here was rather tight to get the Pre in at first, but after it lived there for about 48 hours the leather stretched to fit. The problem is, I didnt own the case for much longer than that.

While putting the case on my belt, using the clip one day, I noticed that it was getting stuck on something. I did my best to get it on the belt and left for the day. When I got home I took the case off my belt and the next day I had even more trouble. When I pushed down, the entire clip piece just popped off the back of the holster.

What had happened is that the leather was poorly applied over the metal clip, so when I pushed it onto the belt the leather tore off. This caused the leather to bunch up under the clip, which eventually caused the clip to come off entirely.

I think this could have been pretty easily fixed by making the clip a tiny bit looser, or having a scoop out to catch your belt and allow for a smoother slide.

This could have been a one-time defect, but I think Ill try a different type of case and see what kind of results I get.
