Great Product- installation tips below
User: Evan Lema, Oct 16, 2009
Pros: amazing protection, helps allow you to stop babying the phone
Cons: can be tricky to apply
as others have noted, it can be tricky to apply. it is definitely worth the money though, as it offers amazing scratch protection to the screen.
APPLICATION ADVICE:
1- first off, if you read the directions it notes that you can refill the sponge container with water 3 times and it still retains perfect install quality. this is useful if esp. if it takes more then one attempt to get it on as you need more liquid. so have some ready to pour into the container
2-the main part of the shield clings easily, however it can be hard to keep the small edge parts clinging to the phone while it dries. WRAP THE PHONE IN THE PROVIDED MICROFIBER CLOTH. place the phone screen side down on the cloth, and then wrap the cloth up around the back of the phone with tension. while holding it in place, use scotch tape to secure the cloth. the soft cloth held tight on all sides around the phone while it dries keeps the hard to manage edge pieces in place.
it took me 4 attempts to get it lined up perfectly, but through these tricks i got a perfect installation.
i use mine in addition to the seido innocase, so the phone is 100 protected. I can treat it like a cheap flip phone and there is never any damage
good luck hope this helps

Excellent Product but a pain to put on!!!

Pros: Amazing Once Installed!!
Cons: The included applicator sponge & Non-squeegee
Okay, so I just bought my Palm Pre and was very excited about the full-body invisible shield they offered. I washed my hands as instructed, and came to find this wierd little sponge. I attempted to put on the face cover, and wow. The card thing that comes included as the squeegee (cheap and not functional) Not happening. I gave up for two days. Then, I decided that I had calmed down and had a little more patience, and I found an old kit from my previous phone the instinct which included a spray bottle of the solution, as well as an actual squeegee. I first applied the backside, and then the front and was absolutely AMAZED!!! There are a couple of tricks I would recommend. 1. Completely soak the shield before application 2. Trim the edges just a little bit (even though mine is pretty well aligned, I can see how I shouldve trimmed the edges just a tad bit 3. Wait for about 2 minutes before attempting to stick the sides of the shield to the phone. It needs to set a little bit- so do the front and back side flat parts first, then wait for the sides. I just did this today, and as the hours go on, the phone is truly looking better and better. I am very happy with it and look forward to the future months to come. My main recommendation is to find another kit with the spray bottle and actual squeegee!!! Best of luck friends!!

Another try

Pros: Unscratchable, grippier, free warranty replacements!
Cons: Grippier, installation still difficult, but easier with spray bottle
So, after a warranty replacement, my installation went much smoother. This time, it came with a spray bottle instead of a sponge, which worked much better.
The gory details of my 2nd attempt of installation: I did indeed take a shower, though I dried off and dressed before doing the deed. With the bathroom still a little steamy, I got out the skin, doused it and my hands with the spray bottle, then applied it to the Pre. This time, it went on as smooth as the videos online depict. No lint to speak of in the air or on my hands, so nothing visible but liquid and air was trapped under the skin. Squeegeed it all off, let the thing dry, and now its near perfect.

Sponge Sucks
User: Chris Thompson, Jan 16, 2010
Pros: As advertised, almost invisible.
Cons: Tedious install not for the faint of heart.
I didnt actually order this item from Pre Central, but found the full-body protection on sale at a local Best Buy. Ive only installed the front, as I seek out another touchstone kit.
As others have mentioned, the install can be an arduous process. It took me two hours of applying, peeling parts back, reapplying and rubbing out bubbles of air AND fluid. I managed to keep my fingers wet and was able to rub out any greasy fingerprints on the adhesive side or on the phone using the sponge. I was also able to do the same with any larger pieces of dust or lint I detected before laying the film down.
My great results are only due to my exceeding patience and perfectionist tendencies. Still, there are some small pieces of dust and lint under the plastic only visible on flat backgrounds like a blank page in the memo app. This is only due to the repeated use of the sponge in trying to keep the film adequately wet. Unfortunately, the sponge often soaks up as much liquid as it leaves behind, or simply moves fluid around like a squeegee.
The bottom line is if you are impatient or easily frustrated, leave the install to someone else. If youre going to do it yourself, see if you can get a kit with spray bottle as the sponge and all the stupidity that accompanies it is what keeps this product from a flawless rating.
To my mind any issues other commenters have regarding clarity must come down to a poor installation. Im quite pleased with how it came out, but annoyed it took so much effort to get there.

great protection...

Fast shipping to midwest. Does what it says it will do, great protection, nothings getting through to the phone. My only complaint is I thought it would be more clear, just on the screen, its obvious there is a screen protecter on. Friend commented that it looks like a display phone. Adds good grip as well. Easy install, go into the bathroom and turn on the shower for the steam and apply, soak everything with the liquid, follow instructions provided, real easy. Would rate 5 for quality but like I said wish it was more clear but what can you expect.

Great Idea but it aint that pretty
User: D Everett, Nov 5, 2009
Pros: you can once again just throw your phone in your pocket
Cons: protects from scatches but makes phone look like its already 2 yeears old
After having it professionally installed and paying over 30 bucks for the complete package. I thought to myself, I have protected my phone from scratches therefore preserving its beauty, but the IS makes the phone look aged, so what have I really accomplished? I guess when I show friends the phone I can say, "It looks much better when the shield is off but Im protecting it right now, lol."
Heres an example you guys can relate to - its like going out with a swimsuit model but keeping her under wrap all the time so she doesnt damage her skin, now do you understand what I mean...
Whats the point? So in 2 years I can take it off and go, wowww, my phone looks good, then sell it on eBay, so the next guy gets a brand new looking phone, but for two years I kept the plastic on it.
Also if you are very meticulous and do have the ability to work on projects that do take some patients, then do it yourself, because after I got it done by the people at Best Buy, I came home took it off and redid it. That fixed most of the problems I had with it but all in all its just like reapplying the plastic you took off the phone when you opened the box...

Even on the pros and cons

Pros: protects like a magic forcefield
Cons: difficult to install, affects aesthetics
This cover does protect like magic and it is well worth the cost (which includes a lifetime warranty), and it does not adversely affect the touch screen as far as touch goes. However, it takes away a lot of the aesthetics by creating this jelly-like, bumpy surface over the cover. The phone is sleek, but the cover takes that away. Its also rather difficult to install, and any mistakes in installation will be visible forever, again detracting from the phones aesthetics. When installing this cover, have a little cup of filtered/bottled water ready to constantly have your hands, the squeegee/sponge, and cover wet. Make sure there are no animals or other people around that could move and create flying dust. Overall, I love the protection, but I dont like the look.

Hard to install, but seems sturdy..
User: Micah Stevens, Nov 1, 2009
Pros: Relatively inexpensive, does seem to offer some protection.
Cons: Really hard to get on without it looking like a bad tint job, edges lift easily after some use.
The idea is good, and it works better than other stick-on screen protectors Ive used, but installing it is very much like putting tint on your car windows, theres a reason why you dont buy the stuff at the auto parts store and do it yourself. I had to peel it up several times and try again.
Dont be afraid to get it too wet, its easier if its really really moist, but of course be careful of soaking your pre too much.
The curved edges refuse to go down, I think thats just something Ill have to live with. Ohwell, maybe Ill get the rubber cover thing.

Difficult installation, reduced clarity
User: Les Orchard, Jul 23, 2009
Pros: Hard to align, multiple misaligned attempts pick up lint from the air, lint-free sections offer reduced clarity
Cons: Nothings getting through this film, device is easier to grip and slide, no reduced touch sensitivity
It took me at least 6 attempts to get this thing aligned right and applied without bubbles. By that point, the sticky side had accumulated all the drifting motes of dust in the air it could, along with a few stray fibers Id ejected from my own clothing. These fibers and dust specs look as bad as scratches might, and the clear bits of the film offer reduced clarity to boot.
The best advice Ive heard is to take a shower, and then while still nude and while theres still steam in the air to battle the lint, try applying the film. Next best thing would be a hazmat suit in a clean room.
Also, all the tutorials Ive seen on the web portray this product as having shipped with a spray bottle of fluid for wetting fingers and the film to dampen the stickiness and ease the smoothing of bubbles. That looked pretty nice—mine came with a dampened sponge, which was less than satisfactory in wetting my fingers and the film without actually sticking to it.

Good protection, difficult to install
User: Steve Nelson, Jul 23, 2009
Pros: Very strong material does not affect the functionality of the touch screen
Cons: frustrating to apply some small bubbles still exist picks up finger grease and smudges as bad as the Pre face
Installation is difficult its hard to find a good ratio of wetness to apply to the film without soaking the face of your phone. It took me several attempts just to have it line up with the face of the Pre. I am very concerned about damaging the touch screen and this material holds up very well. However, you can easily tell a plastic film is on the phone and it just doesnt look as nice. There is a slight wavy pattern to the film, which doesnt affect the sensitivity of the touch screen and it barely registers under your touch, but it is there and does affect the aesthetics of the phone at certain angles to the light. It takes a while to dry enough to get all the edges to stick, but once they do, it stays firmly on the phone. Overall, this is great to get if you are concerned about damage and not as worried about aesthetics. I would recommend taking it to someone who is used to applying these screen protectors though. However, if looks are more what you are worried about then skip buying this. I purchased one for my wife as well, but she didnt like how my phone looked with the screen protector on and she wont use it.
