Palm Pre Leather Side Case

The Palm Leather Side Case is the de-facto case for many Palm Pre users, but is de-facto a little deficient? The case is made of high quality leather on the outside while soft microfiber lining is placed inside for full screen protection. The case offers a slim design which is used to keep the original Pre concept of stream-lined in mind. The belt clip is snug and there is a ribbon that is used to help pull the device out of the case.

I wanted to love this case on the looks alone but the basics of a case/holster need to be ease of use. This one doesn't have it because there is simply no way to use the case without the ribbon (i.e. tight fit with no leather break-in).

Pros: does not turn ringer switch off when placing in case
Cons: pull ribbon takes a few days to get used to

great quality strong great belt clip, I actually like ribbon fits phone snug, protects better than other central pre cases.

This case has been great, the clip holds very well, and the leather seems to be of good quality.

I read some peoples complaints about the pull tab falling inside the case, I havent had this problem, and actually I dont even use the pull tab, I just grab the phone with my thumb and index finger and pull it out. Also, some reviewers mentioned that the pull tab leaves marks on their screen or screen skin. The phones screen is supposed to face the belt clip.

This case is great! I can hook to the top of my pants in the front and have no issues with it getting in the way or coming off.

The leather is good quality and I love the assist strap to get the phone out of the case. The first few days was awkward but after getting used to it, its a snap it get out and back in.

And as stated in the previous post, once you take the phone out, the top closes automatically and keeps the strap out for easy replacement of the phone back in the case.

Ive been using this case for about a week and its been great. I love the low profile design for when I want to keep the phone on me at work. With this case my Pre can take just about any bump, scrape, or fall! Ive found the removal strap to be easy to use and have not encountered the problem of it falling back into the case.

Pros: good protection, great look, handy removal strap

I have no idea where some of the concerns about this case came from.

Ive been using it for a week, and while it does leave a streak on the screen where the ribbon is, the streak is obviously just a line in the oil from fingerprints, and rubs off just as easily as any other finger print. The ribbon is satin or something very much like satin, and has about 0 chance of it doing actual damage to the screen.

Also, Im not sure how the removal strap could fall back into the case. As soon as I take my pre out of the case, the lid falls closed all on its own, holding the ribbon in place. I would would have to work pretty hard to stuff the ribbon inside the case before closing it.

Anyway, dont let the wierd comments about the ribbon that pulls the pre up for removal scare you off.
